Founder's Story

Della’s House of Giving is a 501C (3) Organization based in Dallas Texas. Founded in 2015, the mission of the organization is to provide fundamental resources to children in underserved communities, aimed at reducing hunger and increasing literacy rates. The organization was established when the Founder, Fatesta Bateman discovered a harsh reality while mentoring at a local School in Dallas. She witnessed children hiding food in their backpacks to ensure they would have food for later in the evening. The children were hungry, and this would more than likely be their last meal of the day. Sadly, this scenario happens to millions of children daily in the USA.

Also while mentoring in local schools, Fatesta realized the lack of differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learning styles and student groups to target vocabulary, fluency and reading comprehension. Being an avid reader and literacy advocate, Fatesta launched a literacy program to include Reading Corners to help with varied learning styles and student preferences.
